green room with books and a sofa

I don’t remember the first book I ever threw across the room, but I do know it was probably written by a man and involved a female character described as “not like the other girls” while being exactly like the other girls, only slightly more dead inside.

Hi. I’m Bookstore Geek, and this is my new weekly series of sharp opinions, over-caffeinated insights, and lovingly judgmental commentary from the back corner of your favorite fictional bookstore. You know the one. It smells like paper, quiet rage, and oat milk.

This blog is where I’ll be yelling (intellectually) about things like:

·      Why I don’t trust anyone who uses Goodreads “to be read” lists like they’re achievable goals.

·      How modern dating is just trauma bonding with better fonts.

·      Which Jane Austen characters would have thriving meme accounts.

You might ask: what qualifies me to write this? Well, I once cried in a used bookstore because someone had underlined the wrong sentence in a Virginia Woolf novel. I own fourteen pairs of glasses and only one social life. I majored in literature with a minor in red flags. I am — in short — dangerously overqualified.

Each week, I’ll bring you an essay that lives somewhere between comedy and cultural commentary, filtered through the lens of someone who alphabetizes her thoughts by anxiety category. Some posts will be personal. Some will be petty. All will be 100% correct, even when I’m wrong.

So grab your tote bag, silence your phone like you’re in a 19th-century drawing room, and come spiral with me.

See you in the margins,

– Bookstore Geek
